A key advancement in the development of Traditional Chinese medicine in the Philippines is upon us. For the first time, Traditional Chinese Herbal Medicine is recognized officially by the Philippine Institute of Traditional and Alternative Health Care (PITAHC) and the National Certification Committee of Traditional Chinese Medicine (NCCTCM) has been created.
Dr. Philip Tan-Gatue has been appointed as one of the five members of the Committee.
The NCCTCM is responsible for certifying traditional Chinese medicine practitioners and Chinese medicine dispensers. It also oversees the accreditation of traditional Chinese medicine training centers and clinics in the country. PITAHC is an attached agency of the Department of Health, Republic of the Philippines.
